I graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology in 2007 and found my calling in the industry I grew up watching. Having spent the last 18 years working on various formats of story telling as a Costume Designer, I have had the good fortune of travelling through the furthest of villages and biggest of cities in search of things.. things with which I could recreate an era, bring alive a character and psychologically convince an audience of their existence.

But I wanted my stories to live longer. I wanted my stories to live in the real world. I wanted to capture life and bring people closer to what we’ve left behind… some timeless traditions.

And Soulkari was born in 2018.

My very existence is the result of love that has travelled cultural and geographical divides through generations and wrapped my life in a tapestry of influence that affects everything, from the clothes I make, the beliefs I hold and the twang in my tongue.

 

Soulkari is my effort at expressing my world.
